Xinua was the first Web site to create a personal page based on personal interests for an existing hardware player. Xinua began in 2003 and it was able to provide news in real time for subscribers.
Using a special computer algorithm based on how often and on what sites a news story appears on the Web, Xinua News channel selected headlines from over a thousand different news sources. Through this method, you were able to notice the news that information that affected you throughout the day, delivered in real-time quality. Why was this so important? Before the internet thrived off RSS feeds, people were simply working in front of a computer, often without internet. Xinua helped inform those who normally didn’t have access to valuable information. This was also back when high-speed internet was still a luxury, and a productive work environment was no place to wait for pages to load. Xinua gave peace of mind by connecting users to information while letting them remain focused at the task at hand.
Xinua was available as a download off the internet, but the service has since been discontinued.

The headlines on the Xinua News channel were selected entirely by a computer algorithm from thousands of sources, based on many factors including how often and on what sites a story appeared elsewhere on the Web.
Xinua News channel relied on the editorial judgment of online news organizations to determine which stories were most deserving of inclusion and prominence on the Xinua News channel.
There were no human editors at Xinua News channel selecting, grouping or even merging the headlines and no individual deciding which stories received top placement.
While the sources of the news varied in perspective and editorial approach, their selection for inclusion was done without regard to political viewpoint or ideology.
